A clean and efficient Windows registry is essential to the overall health of your system. Reg Organizer offers a neat interface where you can choose among a series of processes aimed at keeping your registry free from broken entries, as well as properly defragmented and compressed for a better performance. Besides, you can uninstall unwanted or obsolete apps and free up even more disk space by getting rid of all junk and unnecessary files.
The program’s trial version comes with a series of limitations, though. It will check your registry for problems regarding your installed programs, Windows startup, file type associations, type libraries, or COM classes, among other troublesome areas, but fixing any of the errors found will require you to purchase a license. The same restriction applies to the Registry Optimization option, which claims to be able to defragment and compress your registry to improve its performance. Regrettably, due to these limitations, the effectiveness of these features remains to be assessed.
As a complement to these registry-related tasks, the program offers advanced users a nice-to-look-at registry editor. This is a very powerful tool that gives you access to the guts of your Windows registry, so you are advised to use it carefully.
As hinted above, Reg Organizer comes with more features than those directly related to the well-being of the Windows registry. Thus, you will find an Application Uninstaller (which actually doesn’t add much to the native Windows tool), a Disk Cleanup function to free up disk space from no-longer-necessary files (IE temporary files, Windows Installer cache, temp folder, etc.), and a practical startup manager to check and decide which apps should launch at boot time and which others can be delayed or simply removed from the Windows startup. But probably the most interesting of all is the Tweaks section. Here you’ll find nearly 40 tweaks to help you tune up and enhance your system performance, making the most of the memory available, disabling unnecessary resource-consuming features, improving the response of your apps and browsers, etc. You can change all these tweaks manually so that they fit your specific requirements, and you can even add your own and create custom groups with those tweaks that better adjust to your computer’s specifications. All of these non-registry-related tools can be properly checked via the trial version.
Reg Organizer looks comprehensive enough to be able to guarantee that your Windows registry remains healthy for a long time. Its clear and well-designed interface makes it a nice tool to work with, suitable for all users. Those features that require a deeper knowledge of how your OS works are properly labeled as “For Advanced Users”. It is a pity that some of the most sensitive processes cannot be properly tested without purchasing a license, which makes trusting its overall effectiveness a leap of faith.
It is a program for cleaning system of junk files and invalid registry entries.
